Post Camp Reflection:

Last weekend was unlike any other. From 6am Saturday to 6pm Sunday, my service learning group was lucky enough to embark on a weekend away with numerous refugee families. Being able to meet people who are so appreciative and grateful really open’s your eyes. However when your with them, you don’t view with labels like ‘refugees.’ Instead, we see one another as the same. So looking back at the amazing weekend I’ve had, my emotions are bittersweet. I cherish the experiences that I've had and the people I've met, however it's sad to think that it's over.
Or is it? The last words Adrian said are still ringing in my head: “This doesn't have to be over if you don't want it to be.”

On the 2nd November 2013, a group of us including myself were fortunate enough to embark on a life changing journey away for the weekend to Gerringong with refugee families. I could honestly say that it was one of the best experiences of my life. Despite there setbacks in life, the children were the happiest and liveliest kids I've ever met. I wish this experience was longer, however I am aware that I can still embark on many other journeys such as these in the future.
